Hyperosmolar non-ketotic coma

Hyperosmolar non-ketotic coma differs from DKA in that there is no ketone in the urine.  Other symptoms include raise in blood sugar level (above 400mg/dl or 23mmol/L), severe dehydration and drowsiness or even coma.

Hyperosmolar Non-Ketotic Coma Treatment:

Require urgent insulin therapy to bring down the blood sugar level, as well as intravenous fluid replacement for dehydration
